Curriculum overview
Bothell Family Cooperative Preschool is centered around play-based learning. The majority of class time consists of free play amongst the classroom play centers, while caregivers participate and act as guides to enhance and extend learning.
Research shows that young children learn most naturally and effectively through play. As they explore and manipulate materials, their curiosity and desire to make sense of the world leads to spontaneous and self-directed learning. This builds the foundation for all future learning and the preparation children need before they learn more abstract concepts such as numbers and letters.
Our curriculum follows developmentally appropriate guidelines, and focuses on four critical areas of development: social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language. You can learn more about the different stations found in our preschool and how children interact with them on the "Our Preschool" page. We feel this method allows us to:
Value each child as a unique individual with a distinct learning style and personality.
Help children develop competence and independence.
Encourage development of communication and social skills through social interaction.
